Why yes, I *am* sporting my new ROBOT SOCKS, a present from my lovely and thoughtful wife.

@PuddStrikesBack We used to call our dog “Puke-ahontas”.
I just threw away a half-pound of fudge.
Kids are playing Harry Potter on the Wii, but the music sounds more like Indiana Jones. Ugh, movie music…
Parenting note to self: Don’t let scolding sessions be open-ended. Have a plan with an end-game.
Uhm, weird… I just found a ladybug crawling on my toothbrush.
@romanmars “Open Plaques” web site http://t.co/a7ToNCArQL & iphone app http://t.co/zfAJ9ERZ7F Lots of potential here.
iOS apps are not supposed to use notification center for self-promotion. Today’s offender: Plane Finder (repeat offender)
D2 gracefully observed: “Santa shops at the same stores that Momma shops at”
@fernand287 @Manuel001CPF Lo siento, yo no estoy allÃ. Yo no soy el CP capitán. (Y yo no puedo hablar en español muy bien)
Every time I see or hear the name “Duck Dynasty”, it takes me a second to realize it’s not “Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century”.
@mrbrandaland I get that a lot. Don’t mind, tho, since CP is pretty awesome.
@mrbrandaland Not me!
@hypercritical @RangerRick Oh great… this is as bad as xkcd.com/1015/ (on kerning). I thought my TV was OK until now. :-(
Record-high temperature (74 °F) on the winter solstice!
@TweesTweets Yes, they’ve seen him on the Migrator, he had some sort of sandbox game that they liked.
@TweesTweets I have two kids, and they play CP. It’s a very well done game. I like the small details like the background music.
Yay! I finished the Google crossword doodle, with just a handful of “learning opportunities” (cheats).
Never really did crosswords before, but decided to try an app today. Later I learned that today is the 100th anniversary of crosswords!
QuiltingMuriel I have the “Elf On a Shelf” too. It’s a bottle of vodka.
@PuddStrikesBack When I worked at Ericsson, we had a design rule: remember that our product is easily thrown.
Dressed for winter weather, took the kids to the bus stop, and THEN noticed the 70°F forecast. Changed clothes. Welcome to NC winter.

Linux tip: use “xdg-open filename” from a shell to open a file using it’s preferred app, just like Mac OSX’s “open” command.
Researching (youtube surfing) ideas for a science/music project. A calliope might be over-reaching, but an mbira would do nicely!
Time to go make some beeps and boops at the nerd factory.
OH at brunch: “I love schwas!”
Yes, that schwa, as in É™.
@nivex Ahh, the old EeePC 901 might be an EXCELLENT test-bed for playing with btrfs. Not exactly mission-critical, needs compression+speed.
Reading about btrfs - I suspect that there’s a lot of real coolness hiding beneath a simple exterior.
@daveslounge Oops, DL274 show notes link for “Stylus” points to Grooveblaster. Nice mix this week!
Rsync on Mac OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) nibbles away RAM until system is unusable. “purge” command frees inactive buffers. OS should do better.
Knowledge, like entropy, always increases. Evidence of both can be seen in my studio/office today.
Ooh, nice! Finally got Ubuntu Studio LiveCD to boot on my MacBook Pro! Now to make some noise!
Idea: a flat heat-conductive pad for using not-so-flat pans on a glass-top stove — Is this a thing, or is this my unique invention idea?

Throwing away a DVD that contains a single file with a .iso extension. #facepalm
Car GPS showed me wandering about 40 miles away from my actual location, very convinced of it, with 8-sat lock. #fog
